The cooperation between the University of Szeged and the EPLO is further enhanced

Professor László Trócsányi and Dr. Anikó Szalai participated at the Board of Directors meeting of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) and the adjoining conference between September 6-9, 2018, at the seaside headquarters of the organization, close to Sounio, Greece.

At the Board of Directors meeting Professor László Trócsányi reported about the details of the cooperation realized in 2018 between the University and EPLO. A significant international conference took place, jointly organized by the International and Regional Studies Institute of the Faculty of Law of the University of Szeged, and Europe Direct Szeged and the EPLO, the stock of the University’s library have been increased with numerous books and journals relating to European public law, four students from Szeged were able to participate at the educational programs of the EPLO (summer universities and professional internship) thanks to the scholarship program specifically dedicated to that program. Dr. Anikó Szalai, as the head of the program, have mapped the further possibilities of cooperation, for example the exchange of lecturers and the participation of the students of EPLO int he educational programs provided by the Faculty of Law of the University of Szeged.

Anikó Szalai has been elected the member of the European Group of Public Law, which also serves as the scientific advisory organ of the EPLO, under the name of European Scientific Council.

The subject of the adjoining conference was Brexit, especially from the viewpoint of European Union Law, Constitutional Law and Public International Law. Professor László Trócsányi, as moderator of the first panel summarized the legal issues relating to Brexit and highlighted the problems of constitutional identity and the dilemmas of the future of Europe. The 150 participants of the conference had lively scientific debates, especially in topics at the intersection of European Union Law, Constitutional Law and Public International Law.
