The conference is organized by the editorial board of the journal of History students Pro Tempore, and will take place at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb on 24, 25 and 26 April 2025. Apply by 28 February!
The conference will provide a platform for young scholars (BA, MA and PhD students, graduates and scholars who have recently obtained a PhD) to discuss their research in a friendly, yet professional environment. The aim of the conference is to connect young and promising researchers who share an interest in all areas of humanities and social sciences by providing them with an opportunity to exchange information, ideas, and views.
The theme of the conference will be Myths and Narratives. The topic is broad, so just be creative! The areas covered include, but are not limited to:
- theoretical approaches to myths and/or narratives
- historical case studies of the (mis)use of myths and/or narratives
- construction, evolution and disappearance of myths in history
- deconstruction of historical myths and/or grand narratives
- narrative as an (im)proper vehicle for explaining the past

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The application form can be found here.1 You are required to send an abstract containing no more than 1800 characters, along with 3-6 keywords and three key references. Presentations will last up to 20 minutes with additional 5 minutes for questions, comments, and discussion. The presenters will be asked to send a PowerPoint presentation before the conference. The registration fee will be paid upon arrival at the conference and it includes:
- admission to all student presentations and keynote lectures
- welcome pack (including program and promotional materials)
- book of abstract and certificate of participation
- refreshments, snacks and coffee
- social event and sightseeing tour
- accommodation (youth hostel) – if you choose the 30€ fee option
Travel expenses will not be reimbursed.
Selected papers will have a chance to be published in the next volume of Pro Tempore, an international blind peer-reviewed academic journal, indexed on the Portal of Croatian Scientific and Professional Journals2 and Google Scholar. An e-mail with paper submission guidelines will be sent after the conference.
