To deepen and expand this collaboration, a five-member delegation arrived from China at the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences on 31 October 2024. Representing the University of Szeged were Prof. Dr. Tamás Antal, Vice-Dean for Academic and General Affairs; Prof. Dr. Krisztina Karsai, Head of Institute and Professor; and Dr. Péter Mezei, Deputy Head of Institute and Professor.
Among the Chinese delegation members was Dr. Da Lu, a former doctoral student of the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences. The delegation’s leader, Prof. Zhang Yonghe, praised the expertise Dr. Da Lu obtained in Szeged, which inspired efforts to strengthen the ties between the two universities.
The discussions primarily centered on enhancing the existing Memorandum of Understanding and expanding the partnership through joint initiatives. Deepening collaboration in the field of law became the first agenda item, with the conversation covering not only educational cooperation but also research.
The two parties identified common areas for mutual development, laying the groundwork for further deepening their relationship. Prof. Dr. Krisztina Karsai assured the delegation of the Faculty’s capacity to provide expert support across a wide range of fields for any future joint projects. The dialogue also focused on new directions for future collaboration: both parties explored exchange programs, considering the possibility of faculty visits and the establishment of a new short-term mobility program that would open doors for both Chinese and Hungarian students.
This meeting reaffirmed and further strengthened the relationship between the University of Szeged and the Southwest University of Political Science and Law, marking a significant step forward in their partnership.
