From the Classroom to the International Stage: English MIR Students Excelling in Extracurricular Activities

The English Master in International Relations (MIR) students are currently experiencing an exceptionally active academic semester. This news entity summarizes a selection of notable experiences of student engagement with extracurricular activities, with a hope will continue in the upcoming semesters and serve as a source of inspiration for all the Faculty students!

1. On September 24, 2024, a program on government relations and lobbying was held in Moscow, bringing together participants from various sectors, including students, government officials, and industry representatives. Leonid Votinov, a second-year MIR student, attended the event, which featured discussions on topics such as the role of government relations in business strategy, effective lobbying techniques, and the regulatory environment. Votinov described this experience as highly informative, praising the speakers for their expertise and the valuable insights they shared about the challenges and opportunities in the field. He also noted the significance of the networking opportunities provided by the program, which allowed him to connect with professionals from diverse backgrounds, supporting his career aspirations in government relations.

2. Jessica Masraki, a second-year MIR student recently participated in the third annual Course on Strategic Litigation for lawyers and human rights activists in the Arab world. Organized by the Arab Council Foundation, the first leg of the program took place in Istanbul, Türkiye, and brought together 19 human rights activists from 11 Arab countries. The course in Istanbul focused on strategic litigation mechanisms, equipping participants with knowledge on both criminal and non-criminal litigation methods and on the use of special procedures. The week concluded in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the conference The Arab Democratic Pact: A Roadmap for Arab Democracy. During the conference, our student delivered the closing speech on behalf of the Strategic Litigation Training Course participants.

3. From November 3 to November 12, 2024, a Youth Exchange program under the Erasmus+ initiative took place in Kobuleti, Georgia, bringing together participants from Hungary, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Austria, and Italy to address issues of intolerance, discrimination, and social exclusion. Yasmin Salikhojayeva, a second-year student MIR student represented Team Hungary during the event. The program featured workshops, sports activities, and cultural evenings aimed at developing skills such as teamwork, leadership, and intercultural understanding.

4. Sorour Ghasem Zadeh, second year MIR student, recently participated in the Common Ground training course in Alpignano, Italy,The program focused on enhancing group dynamics, conflict management, and team collaboration, incorporating practical tools such as active listening, conflict cycles, and non-violent communication. Participants also engaged in trust-building exercises and explored the historic city of Turin, appreciating its cultural and architectural beauty.
