The Seminar’s topic was entitled as “Big data and Public Law: New Challenges beyond Data Protection”.
The Seminar hosted almost 25 academics from University of Milan and Italy, from different parts of Europe and from the United States, including the PhD students. Seminar offered PhD students a unique opportunity to present their scientific works and their opinions. Each paper was assigned to a discussant whose duty was to scientifically evaluate the paper, raise some questions, and contribute to the paper in subject.
Our Faculty PhD student, Gizem Gültekin Várkonyi, was invited to the Seminar as a discussant. Her duty was to evaluate a paper related to Lethal Autonomous Weapons equipped with Algorithmic Target Construction which is a technique to predict terrorism related people by analysing their profile created in contribution with vast amount of personal data and Big Data.
