Interview with Asli Alkiş

(Péter Mezei) Which university are you coming from and what did you study at home?

(Aslı Alkış) I am coming from Istanbul and I studied law at Marmara University.

(PM) Why did you choose Szeged and what are you studying here in Szeged?

(AA) I chose Szeged because I wanted to earn my Master's Degree in English language and in International and European Law. Unfortunately, there is no chance to do that in my country. This is why I am studying on the International and European Trade and Investment Law Program in Szeged. At the same time I wanted to feel as if I were at home. As I thought, I find our culture, food, human relations and family life are quite similar. Moreover, I feel pretty comfortable with student-friendly prices of Szeged.

(PM) What are your plans for the future after you graduate in Szeged?

(AA) If I could get a chance I would like to continue my education as a PhD student.

(PM) What kind of memories will you bring home from Szeged?

(AA) I have a lot of memories here to bring home. First of all, I met people from all over the world and I got to know different cultures which broaden my horizons. For example, I hadn't experienced Christmas atmosphere before I came here which was fascinating for me. I didn't know what kürtős kalács or paprika is before I attended the festivals dedicated to them. I met lots of professors who are experts in their fields. I am glad we are studying law with different methods. Furthermore, I am looking forward to writing my thesis now. I really recommend that everybody who can afford it should study abroad once in a lifetime.
