„Szeged team” presented at the Cyberspace17 Conference at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic

An international conference on issues related to cyberspace, organized by the Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic, was held for the 15th time on 24-25 November, 2017. The Conference hosted more than 120 specialists in the different fields of Law such as Privacy and Personal Data, Cybercrime, Intellectual Property, Internet, Media, Video Games, Cyberbullying and many other related topics. Some of our Faculty PhD students and junior faculty members, as well as Hungarian researchers from different institutions were present and gave lectures.

On the 25th of November, Privacy and Personal Data sessions started with Gizem Gültekin Várkonyi’s (PhD Student, Doctoral School of Law, SZTE) presentation on “Artificial Intelligence and the General Data Protection: Liability Problem within the Scope of Data Controller’s Consent Obligation”. Following lecture was given by Márton Sulyok (PhD, Senior Lecturer in Constitutional Law, SZTE) with the title of “Proof or Promise? The Promise of Privacy-Proof Evidence-Gathering in the Information Age”.

Privacy and Personal Data session continued with Adrienn Lukács’s (PhD Student, Doctoral School of Law, SZTE) presentation on Layoff, Facebook, Employment: the Growing Issue of the Right to Data Protection and social Network Sites with Special Regard to the Termination of Employment”.

At the Cybercrime and Digital Evidence session, Tamás Pongó (PhD, assistant professor, SZTE) gave his presentation on “Hungarian student vs. Cyberbullying” case. Besides the team of Szeged, the conference hosted other professionals from Hungary and became a meeting point for all. The event was colourful with the participants from at least 15 European countries as well as the United States and Australia. Private law firms’ representatives participated in the Conference and presented the legal issues in practice. Our Faculty members and students enjoyed to be in such an international environment where at least 17 different research areas were covered, including their own research of interest.
