For our greatest pleasure, in the frame of the Erasmus Exchange mobility the Department of European Legal History of the Szeged Law School had the opportunity to welcome a French professor, Hélène GUEYE-VIALATOUX (Catholic University of Lyon, Pedagogical Director) on 4th May 2017. The aim of Prof. Gueye-Vialatoux’s visit was to give an interesting lecture on the Revolutionary period and the bases of the modern French public law. The lecture was followed by the public in the excellent interpretation of Géza SZÁSZ (University of Szeged, Faculty of Humanities, Department of French Studies, master of conferences, head of department).
The topic of her lecture was very complex which forms also an integral part of the academic studies in Szeged. According to the program’s syllabus “as the political and social bases of the French monarchy are significantly changed, the transfer of sovereignty initiated on 17th June 1789, gives legitimacy and legality to the new regime. These mutations fit into a regime which is bound to continue to comply with philosophical and political aspirations of the revolutionaries. Therefore, the monarchy of the ‘Ancien Régime’ is obsolete and cannot be maintained against an assembly representing the young sovereign nation. The effect of the orientations taken by the recent constituent assembly is decisive, it offers the cradle to modern public law.”
The Szeged Law School wanted to express its warmest thanks for Prof. Gueye-Vialatoux’s magnificent lecture and we hope that we will have the opportunity to continue the collaboration with the Catholic University of Lyon.

Grâce à un programme de mobilité d’échanges d’Erasmus, le 4 mai 2017, nous avons eu la possibilité d’accueillir une professeur française, Hélène GUEYE-VIALATOUX (Université catholique de Lyon, Directrice pédagogique) à Szeged au nom du Département de l’Histoire du Droit Européen. Elle est arrivée à notre université pour nous donner une intervention très intéressante, intitulée: La période révolutionnaire et les fondements du droit public moderne français. Le public a pu suivre l’intervention dans l’interprétation excellente de M. SZÁSZ Géza (l’Université de Szeged, Faculté des lettres, Département d’études françaises, maître de conférences, chef de département).
Le sujet de son cours était très complexe qui fait aussi partie intégrante de notre matière universitaire : « En modifiant les fondements politiques et sociaux de la monarchie française, le transfert de souveraineté initié le 17 juin 1789 entend donner au nouveau régime légitimité et légalité. Ces mutations s’inscrivent dans un régime qui doit demeurer conforme aux aspirations philosophiques et politiques des révolutionnaires.La monarchie d’Ancien Régime est alors obsolète et ne peut demeurer face à une assemblée représentant la jeune nation souveraine. L’influence des orientations prises par la récente assemblée constituante est décisive, elle offre au droit public moderne son berceau. »
