Twenty Chinese students arrived to Szeged on August 24, 2016 in order to participate in the „Gateway” summer semester program. Our guest students study criminal justice major in Shanghai, thus the summer semester’s program provided professional training in this field of law.

As a part of that, thanks to the Forensic Science Institute of University of Szeged, the students had a chance to witness a forensic science autopsy, the work of the toxicology and the DNA lab. Gathering practical knowledge continued thereafter, as the Institute of Criminal Science provided an all-around criminal justice package. Besides the theoretical knowledge delivered by lectures, the students visited the local court, the Csillag prison and the police station as well.

In addition to this interesting professional program, students got familiarized with the Hungarian culture. Budapest, the Parliament and the Ópusztaszer National Heritage Park fascinated the students. 38 Chinese students participated on these programs, as 18 fall semester students had already arrived by that time. According to their statement, all the 38 guest students loved the colourful Hungarian history and the famous Hungarian cuisine.

Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to 20 students on September 16, as the summer semester program finished with a ceremony. However, we hope that the fall semester students will travel back to China at the end of the semester happy and well-educated as well.
