On his own experiences Mr. Gonas said:

“Upon arrival in Szeged as a Fulbright Specialist there were thoughts of sharing knowledge. But the Fulbright International Education Program is deemed to be much more. It is to seek understanding, build relationships and establish a foundation upon which to create a path between our respective communities.

The time taken by students to attend lectures on International Commercial Arbitration while preparing for year-end examinations was greatly appreciated. Being cordially received by the Faculty of Law, the Department of International Private Law and the Institute of Comparative Law made me feel very welcome. Add the professors' fine scheduling. I remain grateful to all and hope this visit is a beginning for us to advance the Fulbright goals, which include serving the students.”

Roy Gonas practices law in Coral Gables, Florida. He is a member of the Alabama State Bar and the Florida Bar. He also is on the panels of various associations as an arbitrator for domestic and international commercial cases, having started as an arbitrator 40 years ago. Mr. Gonas is Fulbright Specialist (International Commercial Arbitration) and lectures yearly on the subject at various European universities. In 1978 he founded the in-state International Law seminar series for The Florida Bar. Currently, he is Fulbright visiting professor at the University of Szeged.
